Hey world, its been a while.

So an update on my recent activities….

I’m about half way through my Research degree, and loving it. My recent update only comes now, because of all the work (playing games :P ) I’ve been doing. Anyway I will be updating a bit more regular, now I have been able to access my website account (woop!).

Thanks.

Almost forgot…MA

July 29, 2011 in Blog

I almost forgot to mention my recent plans for the upcoming months/year.
Yes, another bit of great news! I’ve decided to study for an extra year at University and will be taking a Masters come mid September / Early October . Not only that, I have also been given the great opportunity to be managing a small games development studio for the coming year ahead, while studying my Masters.

I should be looking to start both my Masters and the managing job around September/October time!
So wish me luck :)

A Freelance Summer

July 29, 2011 in Blog, My news

So since I last appeared I was job-less! I’ve managed to grab a great little freelance project.

A basic summary of the project: so it’s basically a user interactive interface project based for the web and involves a huge amount of creativity and control! The best way to describe it is; an user friendly e-learning environment, which will help aid all types of health care students with key skills needed for their subject area and professions. This is quite a creative project, yay! I will eventually be using Adobe Flash to create the mid/final interactive interface, as for now, I have just finished off planning the ground work for the basic UI system and have looked into a number of different art styles and UI interfaces I can take my inspiration from :) . I’ve also been sketching out the basic look and feel for the environment, although they are quite rough, so not in any state to show my peers or post on my blog for that matter :P

I’ll hopefully keep this updated if I have time, and post up news about the progression I’ve made with the project and so on! :)

Result!

June 22, 2011 in Blog, My news

So it was the official results day yesterday!  And its official (and also very exciting), I am now a true Bachelor of the Arts, with Honours :) :)

And I’m so happy to be coming away with a 1st class degree in Computer Games Design ^_^

Just a quick and fairly important note for any potential employers looking at my site; I have now added this new information to my CV/Resume, meaning this is the most up to date and complete version. You can now find this on my résumé page and download a copy if you wish.

JOB hunting

June 18, 2011 in Blog

My university life is officially over (sad face), no longer a student, and officially on the hunt for a job in the industry of games.  At the moment I’ve been checking out  general game artist jobs and general UX jobs (including QA Lead roles). I would love to fit in to one of these categories, which one, I’m not sure yet, but it would be awesome to have a go at UX. The experience I gained in my dissertation (on my final year of my degree), in User Experience has lead me to consider this new area with (great) interest, it would be a good chance to put into practice these recent gained skills and find out what I think of UX as a career prospect!  To get a job straight into either one of these categories within the next few weeks / months would be perfect.  I’m currently looking at jobs within small games development companies, this would be a great starting point for my future ambitions and aspirations – to eventually climb the ladder of management and become a senior lead of some sort.

I’ve also broadened my horizons and been on the hunt for jobs abroad – although in this country would be just as good. I guess the big factor of going to another location is more appealing for some obvious reasons;
1 – its of course a brand new place to explore, with a possibility of a slight culture change – which is pretty darn exciting, if I don’t say so myself!
2 – the additional learning experience in another country is a definite appeal, after having spent so long in education, and spending the last 4 years glued to one place.
3 – and because its a free vacation on top of everything else :p

Guess I better crack on with the hunt, and fingers crossed, hopefully I’ll be employed by the end of next month :D . Oh and I’ll be sure to keep my work updated in the meantime, so keep coming back for more.

Masterpieces are now in place!

The biography description still needs some minor tweaks, but pretty much sorted… ever so closer to finalising the site ready for potential employers to look at . wooo!
