My university life is officially over (sad face), no longer a student, and officially on the hunt for a job in the industry of games. At the moment I’ve been checking out general game artist jobs and general UX jobs (including QA Lead roles). I would love to fit in to one of these categories, which one, I’m not sure yet, but it would be awesome to have a go at UX. The experience I gained in my dissertation (on my final year of my degree), in User Experience has lead me to consider this new area with (great) interest, it would be a good chance to put into practice these recent gained skills and find out what I think of UX as a career prospect! To get a job straight into either one of these categories within the next few weeks / months would be perfect. I’m currently looking at jobs within small games development companies, this would be a great starting point for my future ambitions and aspirations – to eventually climb the ladder of management and become a senior lead of some sort.
I’ve also broadened my horizons and been on the hunt for jobs abroad – although in this country would be just as good. I guess the big factor of going to another location is more appealing for some obvious reasons;
1 – its of course a brand new place to explore, with a possibility of a slight culture change – which is pretty darn exciting, if I don’t say so myself!
2 – the additional learning experience in another country is a definite appeal, after having spent so long in education, and spending the last 4 years glued to one place.
3 – and because its a free vacation on top of everything else :p
Guess I better crack on with the hunt, and fingers crossed, hopefully I’ll be employed by the end of next month
. Oh and I’ll be sure to keep my work updated in the meantime, so keep coming back for more.
